Crisfield Chamber of Commerce – Board of Director’s Monthly Meeting -Thursday, January 8, 2009 – 8:00 a.m. – Tawes Museum

The Crisfield Chamber of Commerce held it’s monthly meeting on Thurs., January 8, 2009 upstairs at the Tawes Museum.  Chris Sterling, President brought the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.  In attendance: Chris Sterling, Chris Tyler, Mary Beth Pruitt, Tom Shores, Steve Marshall, Debbie Jankowski, Mike Milbourne, Sandy Atkins, Courtney Flaherty and Billy Drewer.  Asbsent:  John Phoebus, Bill Buttrill, Pat Carson, Jay Tawes, Patti Marshall and Sue Heath.  A quorum was present.

Previous minutes were read and approved.  Motion made to accept by Steve Marshall, seconded by Sandy Atkins.

Treasurer’s report was presented by Tom Shores.  Motion made to accept by Chris Tyler, seconded by Steve Marshall.

Office Report – Valerie Howard:  1.) Working on Membership renewals.  Everyone has been mailed, but if you need an application, please contact Valerie.  2.) Working on the Annual Banquet, which will be held on Sat., Jan. 17, 2009.  3.) Working on the Valentine’s Ball with Allison.  4.) Started preliminaries on the Tawes Crab & Clam Bake.

Old Business:

Executive Board Election:  An election ballot was handed out if someone wanted to nominate another Chamber members.  No one was nominated, so it was voted to accept as presented:

President – Chris Sterling

1st Vice – Chris Tyler

2nd Vice – John Phoebus

Treasurer – Tom Shores

Secretary – Mary Beth Pruitt

Past President – Steve Marshall (appointed by President).

Motion made by Sandy Atkins to accept as presented, seconded by Steve Marshall.  No opposed.

2009 Budget:  The only change to be made to the 2009 budget is to add $3000 line item for semi-annual audit, which was voted on last month.

Somers Cove Marina Reception:  There will be a reception at the Tawes Museum on Tues., January 27, 2009, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.  The reception is in honor of Dr. Lloyd Tyler and the Somers Cove Marina Commission.  It will be hosted by the City of Crisfield and the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber members are invited.

Annual Awards Banquet:  The awards banquet will be held on Sat., January 17, 2009 at the Crisfield Elks Lodge.  Invitations were mailed to Chamber members and guest.  Please call Valerie to rsvp or if you have any questions.

Valentine’s Ball – Allison Castellana:  Allison is planning a Valentine’s Ball as a major fundraiser for Crisfield Events.  It will be held at the Masonic Temple on Sat., Feb. 14, 2009.  If anyone is interested in purchasing tickets, please see Allison or Valerie.

Blue Crab Challenge – Allison Castellana:  The Blue Crab Challenge will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 on Main St. in Crisfield.  Allison has formed a committee to help her with the event.  They are:  Jay Tawes, Billie Jo Chandler, Kathy Berezowski, Julie Widdowson, Carolyn Marquis and Rick Lord.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m.  Motion made by Sandy Atkins, seconded by Mary Beth Pruitt.  No opposed.
