all members. A motion was made by Bill Buttrill to accept the revisions,
seconded by Dan Kuebler, no opposed. Revisions implemented 8/1/07. Dues
structure 1/1/08.
Waterman’s Memorial -Paul Emely: Paul is trying to get a Waterman’s Memorial
down at the City Dock. He feels that we need to honor the local waterman for
what they have done for our community and other nearby communities. He has
received permission from City Hall but they ask that the memorial be portable.
The size would be 6’ x 2’, weigh 11,400 lbs, cost $9,600.00 and be made of
granite. Working on this project with him is George Tawes and Larry Laird. Paul
asked if the chamber would consider donating to the project. Discussion to
follow at next meeting. He will also be approaching Deal Island, Smith Island
and Tangier Island with this idea. Paul also stated that the showmobile needs
new batteries. Steve thanked Paul for all his hard work on the showmobile.
Terry Pehan and Paul Emely both had to leave early, so they were first on the
agenda.

made by Bill Buttrill, seconded by Chris Sterling, no opposed.
Tom Shores gave the treasurer’s report. Motion to accept by Bill Buttrill,
seconded by Terry Pehan, no opposed.
Valerie Mason gave the office summary. She received a request from the Elks
Lodge #1044 for sponsorship for their 100th anniversary. The Elks Lodge will be
hosting an event to celebrate their 100th year and will be making a program and
it was suggested that we buy a page for $100.00. Motion made by Bill Buttrill,
seconded by Diane McGonigle, no opposed. Valerie also asked for ok to buy a
laptop for the office. It is in the 2007 budget. Valerie needs it to take to
events. Also, there are 3 people working in the office this summer, with only
one computer, so it holds up the work progress. Dan Kuebler offered to help
Valerie in choosing the right one. Terry Pehan motioned up to $1,500, Bill
Buttrill seconded, no opposed. Valerie also had “chamber shirts” available to
look at. Steve had 2 made to show. They are made by Phil Bethard and have the
chamber logo on them. They are good quality shirts, selling for $20.00 each. If
anyone is interested in ordering a shirt, let Valerie know.
Dan Kuebler asked about Peachtree being installed. Chris Sterling said that it
will be up and running by July’s meeting.
Events – Virginia Townsend: Virginia has talked with Danny Thompson regarding
the clam bake and everything is going well. Danny asked that she announce that
we will be bagging clams on Sunday, June 15th at 6:00 p.m. at H. Glenwood Evans
& Sons. On the Derby, we have to find a new location for the judges stand for
the parade. The Boat Docking committee has met several times and things are
going well. Fishing Tournament committee will meet tonight at 6:00 p.m. and
stuff the captain’s bags. Also, we had previously booked “Tequila Sunrise”, a
tribute band to the Eagles, for Saturday night at the Crab Derby. The Board of
Directors voted to have “Landsharks” for Sunday night at the Derby. They are a
tribute band to Jimmy Buffett. Motion was made by Dan Kuebler to get the band
for Sunday night, seconded by Bill Buttrill, no opposed. Records will show that
the profit/loss will reflect on the chamber itself, not the Crab Derby.

do NOT purchase this. The Maryland state law does not hold seller liable. Also,

it. Bill Buttrill motioned to not purchase, Vince Jordan seconded, no opposed.
Antique Car Show – John Tawes: John is organizing a “Wheels that Heal” car show,
which will be held on Saturday, August 4th from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. (rain date,
Saturday, August 25th). It will be held on Rt. 413, from 9th St. down to the

festival. He has talked with Channel 47 –WMDT and they will be doing free
advertising. Ki is also arranging for other free advertising. He has confirmed 6
bands and they will play at several different locations around town. The
festival will be Saturday, July 7th – from
10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. There will also be an exhibit on Curly Byrd at the Tawes
Museum the night before from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Somerset County Public Library – Renee Croft: The Library Board has met looking
for potential site for the new library. Renee is looking for a chamber member to
serve on the committee for input on what is needed and Bill Buttrill
volunteered. They need 3-5 acres for the new building and it will be
approximately 15,000 square feet with 75 parking spaces. May possibly be a
conference center in the building.
Crisfield Airport – Vince Jordan: The airport met with the city regarding the
hangers for the airport and the meeting went well.
We will defer till the next meeting the subject of some board members not
attending the board meetings.
